Trauma Therapy in Ontario
Trauma can shape how we think, feel, and experience the world — often in ways that are difficult to fully understand.
It can come from a single overwhelming event or build over time through repeated stress, adversity, or relational experiences.
You may notice:
· feeling constantly on edge or overwhelmed
· difficulty trusting others or feeling safe
· emotional numbness or disconnection
· strong reactions that feel hard to control
· patterns that continue despite your best efforts to change them
Trauma is not a sign of weakness — it is the nervous system’s way of trying to protect you.
UNDERSTANDING TRAUMA
Trauma is not just what happened — it’s how the experience was held in the mind and body.
It can affect:
· emotional regulation
· relationships and attachment
· sense of safety
· identity and self-worth
Trauma can also be:
· Intergenerational — patterns passed through families
· Developmental — early experiences that shaped how safety and connection were learned
· Relational — experiences within important relationships
· Acute or PTSD-related — linked to specific events
Each person’s experience of trauma is unique — and so is the path toward healing.
MY APPROACH
My approach to trauma therapy is grounded in understanding the nervous system, attachment, and the impact of environment and relationships.
I integrate evidence-based and somatic approaches to support both the mind and body in healing.
In our work together, we will:
· Build safety and stabilization
· Understand how trauma is showing up in your thoughts, body, and behaviours
· Gently explore underlying patterns and experiences
· Develop tools for regulation and resilience
· Support meaningful, sustainable change
This work is always paced with care, respect, and sensitivity to your experience.
Much of my work also considers the relational and environmental context in which trauma exists.
For families, this means understanding how trauma impacts not just individuals — but the system as a whole.
For children, trauma is often expressed through behaviour, emotion, and connection — rather than words.
By supporting parents and caregivers, we can begin to shift the environment in a way that helps children feel safer and more secure.
WHO I SUPPORT
I work with:
· Adults experiencing the effects of trauma or PTSD
· Parents working to understand and support their child’s emotional experiences
· Families navigating relational or intergenerational trauma
· Children impacted by early adversity or attachment disruptions
· Adoptive families working through complex emotional and relational experiences
· Public safety personnel and veterans navigating trauma-related stress
WHAT TRAUMA THERAPY CAN HELP WITH
Trauma therapy can support:
· PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
· Emotional dysregulation
· Anxiety and hypervigilance
· Relationship challenges and attachment difficulties

POST-TRAUMATIC GROWTH OUTCOMES
Clients often begin to:
· feel more grounded and regulated

Healing from trauma doesn’t mean forgetting — it means being able to move forward with greater stability, understanding, and choice.
